ZYC is dedicated to my son Albert, his cousins, his friends and all the children of the world and all the children of all species who's futures we are responsible for.
When talking to Albert at the moment I am mindful of the amount of detail that I give him- am I telling him too much or am I not telling him enough?
This is where his school came to the rescue. When The Earth Hour campaign in Sydney started he came home with a worksheet about our energy uses and began to instruct us to turn off all unnecessary lights. Maybe the kids are the responsible ones.
We have included solutions in our everyday conversations particularly solar hot water and solar electricity. The first thing we installed were some solar garden lights. So easy, but be careful they are so vulnerable to footballs.
We played around with a camping shower- we heated up the shower in the backyard then had a shower in our swimmers- too easy. This highlighted just how easy it is to heat water using the sun.
I purchased a small solar kit for him to play around with his cousin, Tom. "Wow! Is the sun really making the fan work, mudda?"
