Being self- sufficient means living sustainably and that means cutting your green-house gases. You can start small and work you way to total independence- how good would that feel? You don't need to live in Nimbin (an alternative community started in the'70s) to do that. However I did take a trip to the Rainbow Power Co. in Nimbin to check out what they have to offer- log on and check it out for yourself. My biggest concern was the smell from the self-composting dunny- so off I went to the loo. No odor what so ever! Just a hum from the vent powered by solar of course.
